KraftMaid is proud to have earned certification in the Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP) administered by the KCMA (Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer's Association). This ESP program grants annual certification to manufacturers who meet a stringent set of environmental criteria.
The ESP certification criteria are designed to promote the sustainability of natural resources, reduce waste, and recognize companies, like KraftMaid, who focus their resources on sustainability and a commitment to the environment. Certification is awarded based on criteria compliance in five categories, all designed to reduce waste, conserve natural resources and maintain a commitment to community involvement.
- Air Quality: Demonstrated compliance with all local and federal hazardous air pollutants (HAPS) regulations and committed use of raw materials with a low formaldehyde content.
- Product Resource Management: Demonstrated use of recycled and sustainable products, including particleboard that meets specifications for recycled/recovered fiber content of 75% or greater.
- Process Resource Management: Active recycling and energy conservation programs in place.
- Environmental Stewardship: A written environmental policy, as well as environmental management systems in place.
- Community Relations: Involvement with the community through service or charitable organizations.
